E.A. Laney Standout Kevin Whitted’s Announces Homecoming with A New Basketball Clinic

WILMINGTON, NC (October 13, 2015) – Former Laney High School Basketball standout and renowned Coach Kevin Whitted returns to where it all began to host The Workshop basketball skills clinic at his alma matter E.A. Laney High School Michael Jordan Gymnasium (2700 North College Rd) October 31st from 8a.m.-4p.m.

As an E.A. Laney Hall of Fame Inductee and the all-time leading scorer it’s time for this standout to pass along his wisdom and profound knowledge of skill development to the next generation from a place so dear to him. 

No matter where Coach Whitted goes as a Nike Skills Developer, Former NBA Player and Former NBA D-League Coach he knows where it all began. The clinic is open to middle school & high school boys and girls.  The $99.00 registration includes a t-shirt and lunch.  Please bring a basketball and water.

About Kevin Whitted:

Former Dallas Mavericks NBA player, Kevin Whitted found his passion for basketball during his teen years while he attended E.A. Laney High School in Wilmington, NC. During this time, Whitted became the all-time leading scorer, beating Michael Jordan’s record in 1990. Shortly thereafter, Kevin attended the University of Tennessee where he was a three-year starter. Following his collegiate career, Kevin went on to play professionally in Europe and for the Dallas Mavericks. Whitted stopped playing basketball in 1999 and switched gears and coached two successful teams: the Atlanta Vision ABA and the Wilmington Sea Dawgs PBL.  As an assistant coach Whitted has coached the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and the Springfield Armor both in the NBA D-League.  The Armor is the affiliate to the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers, New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets.  Outside of coaching Whitted is a Nike Skills trainer.  In addition, Whitted is CEO of Kevin Whitted Basketball Services and the founder of the Kevin Whitted Basketball Services where he focuses on developing young and professional players through individual and specialized training.
